Don't run builds that restrict you to just melee.

Let me hook you up with my Glimmering Mark/Chain Lightning Mesmer FC caster sometime. We'll rock AB all night.

Even -10 degen isn't enough if they have decent self-heals.

And you can attack through those curses, sure you will be taking some damage but it doesn't take much to hit through 60 armor.
True, but, when one runs a Mesmer/Warrior with a shield and +10 vs slashing or blunt and physical resistance stance it makes it quite hard for a melee to even damage the mesmer very much. I run this in RA and AB and FA and with two major degens I win 98% of the time vs a melee. Most melee don't bring stance removers so I can keep up either the armor stance or the can't interupt me stance against them and just degen away until they are dead. Carrying Midnight signet as my elite I have nothing to fear, but, fear itself.

If hexes are that bad, use and adrenal build and purge signet. There's not much else to say. If I started complaining about warriors doing too much damage to my mesmer, but then didn't want to have to take anything to help prevent or heal the damage, don't you think people would make fun of me too?

I put my little sin on the fridge while I hope to some improvement on his situation.

Until there, I am a casting a bit. A new, interesting experience so far.

Just remember to come back and complain about anti-caster hexes an interrupts later!

I just play a class that everyone ignores, that's the best Hex avoidance available.

Yeah! Next time I get killed by autoattacking wammos I create a thread called "Melee damage is frustrating". Until then I put my little necro on the fridge while I hope to some improvement on his situation.

In case you didn't know, anti melee hexes were already nerfed multiple times in the past and hex removal got buffed.

[skill]Mending Touch[/skill] makes Cripple and Blind incompetant counters to melee damage. Next option is hexes. There are a TON of them, and they all work well. However, they have long recharges, long cast times, or short durations typically. This is a team game, and you may succeed at shutting down 1 melee player, but how about 2-4 of them at once?

And a Mesmer can easily shut down a Purge Signet warrior if they wanted to, but a Mesmer can shut down anything they want, if they know what they will face.

[skill]Ignorance[/skill][skill]Soothing Images[/skill] among many others.

Its a game about skill. Do you have enough skill to counter the enemy? When they have builds that beat yours, can you find ways to beat them, even with inferior builds? If not, then you need to find new builds.

Of course, this thread IS primarily a complaint directed at random arenas, where the game is less about skill and more about rock/paper/scissors. Sure, if you have a team with a rock in it, HURL it at the scissors asap. But if you're all paper, and they're all scissors, you're S.O.L...you'll just have to run around and try and papercut them to death.

Still, even in RA you should be taking a team perspective (ideally..this IS RA after all), and thus if you find yourself getting all the antimelee hexing (which as an assassin you invariably do), you just have to run around a lot while still appearing threatening, and content yourself with the fact that if they're doing their damndest to shut YOU down, there are three other peeps on your team they're ignoring. Who in an ideal world will then gank them quickly, but in the real world will probably call you a noob for not having 1234567 spiked the other team yet.

If this RA, just sync and run hex eater vortex or bring a purge or five somewhere.
